For this blog post, I’m creating a simple online tutorial. This tutorial is related to my current job at The Hub, Center for Health and Beauty, a wellness clinic that accepts health insurance for acupuncture. Acupuncture isn’t always covered by health insurance, but it is becoming more common for health insurance to cover it. My clinic has a form on our website for potential or current patients to submit their health insurance information to determine if their health insurance plan covers acupuncture. This tutorial is on how to find that form and fill it out.
I took screenshots of the various steps using the Windows Snipping tool, which is found on most computers with Windows installed. Here’s an introductory article on it if you’re unfamiliar with it; Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots.
I then used Google Drawings within Google Documents to crop, add a border, and add a caption to each of the screenshots for each step I wanted to show. If you’re unfamiliar with Google Drawings, Help Desk Geek has a great tutorial on how to use it: Google Draw: A Full Guide For Beginners. You can also access Google Drawings from Google Documents by opening a new Google Document, then selecting “Insert,” then “Drawing,” and then “New.” This opens a window like the one in Figure 1, where you can create your drawing just like you would if you went to the main application. This is also where you would upload a drawing you’ve already made. More information on how to do that is here; Add flowcharts and diagrams to files.

Finally, I combined the images with my instructions for the final tutorial, which you’ll find below after the line break. Enjoy, and feel free to ask questions about how I created this tutorial in the comments.
How to Find Out if Your Health Insurance
Covers Acupuncture at
The Hub, Center for Health and Beauty.
Health insurance does sometimes cover acupuncture treatments. Every insurance provider is different, and many still don’t cover it. Health insurance that does cover acupuncture can have a range of copays, number of visits per year, and other limits or restrictions. The easiest way to find out if your health insurance covers acupuncture at our clinic is to submit your health insurance information via our Insurance Verification Form located on our website. Here’s how:
Step 1:
- Go to The Hub’s home page, which is; https://www.hhhealthandbeauty.com/.
- Then, as shown in Figure 1 below, click the “Verify Insurance” button at the top of the page.

Step 2:
- Click the check box next to the “I’m not a robot” text, as shown in Figure 2 below and indicated by the green arrow with a “1”.
- Then click the “Submit” button as indicated in Figure 2 below by the green arrow with a “2”.
- The screen may ask you to do additional tasks, such as selecting certain images to verify further you’re not a robot. If it does, follow the instructions until it brings you to the form shown in Step 3.

Step 3:
- Figure 3 below shows the Insurance Verification Form.
- If you’d like to submit the form for more than one person, then fill in the information for the first person and complete all nine steps.
- Then start again at Step 1 for the next person.
- Each person needs a form filled out even if they have the same health insurance ID numbers.

Step 4:
- Fill in all the information requested on the form, as shown in Figure 4 below.
- Make sure the information matches the information on your health insurance card exactly.

Step 5:
- Click the down arrow indicated by the green arrow in Figure 5 below to open the drop-down menu.
- This menu shows five health insurance plan types
- PPO (Preferred Provider Organization)
- POS (Point of Service)
- HMO (Health Maintenance Organization)
- EPO (Exclusive Provider Organization)
- Med Supp (Medicare Supplement)
- Select your health insurance plan type
- If you’re unsure what plan you have, check with your health insurance provider.

Step 6:
- Next, click the “Add Policy” button, as indicated by the green arrow in Figure 6 below.

Step 7:
- Enter your health insurance information as it appears on your health insurance card.
- For “Ins Phone,” you can enter either the customer service or the number for providers usually listed on the back of your health insurance card.
- The “Diagnosis” and “Notes” fields are optional.
- Once you’ve entered all the information, click the “Save” button, as indicated by the green arrow in Figure 7 below.

Step 8:
- You should now have a small window pop-up like the one shown below in Figure 8 saying “Policy Added.”
- If you get any error message, ensure all the required information is filled in and try saving again.
- If you still get an error message, please contact us by phone, email, or message found on the Contact page of our website.
- Now click the “OK” button, as indicated by the green arrow in Figure 8 below.

Step 9:
- You” see one final confirmation page, as shown below in Figure 9. You’ve now submitted your insurance information to be verified.
- You can now close your browser window or tab.
- If you need to submit insurance information for another person, go back to Step 1 and follow the steps for the second person.

Now we’ll check with your health insurance company to see if acupuncture is covered and if it is exactly what your insurance covers in terms of the number of visits per year, copay, and any other requirements.
This process typically takes 5-7 business days, but it can take up to 14 business days. Once we have your coverage information, we’ll call you at the phone number you provided in the insurance verification form. We’ll then review your coverage to see if acupuncture is covered or let you know if it’s not. Then we can schedule your appointment with us if you’d like and answer any questions you may have.
Good post.
Thank you
